Europe's best sitesYou will agree that Denmark really does have some of Europe's best camping & caravan sites the very second you arrive.
Sites in Denmark are namely far removed from the massive "canvas colonies" with just a foot between you and the nearest neighbour and a brisk 3km hike to the nearest conveniences. In fact they are just the opposite - spacious havens that are never so big that you will not get to join in with the happy and helpful Danish holiday makers.
Locations to die forYou will find our camping and caravan sites in the prettiest spots in Denmark – two-thirds are in fact so close to the water’s edge that you’re only a few feet away from a refreshing dip in the sea.
But you could of course choose a site in a tranquil woodland setting or in the immediate vicinity of one of the attractive market towns. But wherever you go, you will not just be met with service and friendliness second to none; you will also be impressed by how clean and tidy the site looks and by the spaciousness.

Where can I camp?In Denmark camping is prohibited on streets and roadways, in parks and woods, on beaches and car parks. No matter how you travel - with a tent, campervan or caravan - you are only allowed to stay at officially approved sites - but remember, you get a whole lot of fun thrown in with these! Finding a siteYou can either search for a site in Guide Denmark or look in the reference book “Camping Denmark 2008” where all classified camping sites are listed. The book costs DKK 95/€ 12,7 and is available from camping sites, local tourist offices or book shops.
A huge choiceEvery one of Denmark's more than 500 approved camping and caravan sites has been classified to indicate that they have satisfied a great many requirements they are awarded from 1 to 5 stars, with 5 stars for deluxe sites and 1 star for more basic ones.

CabinsAt many sites you can rent either a tent or a caravan, but for those who prefer to stay in a "proper" house but still want to have a camping holiday - a cabin will definitely fit the bill!
There are more than 3,000 cabins on Danish camping sites. They are all classified and there is a cabin to suit all budgets and tastes - from the well appointed to the more spartan, but the cabins are always attractively and comfortably fitted out.
All-season campingMore and more people have come round to the idea that camping and caravanning is not just for the summer months. Each season has its own special charm, and what better place to enjoy it than on a camping & caravan site - with scenery all around.
Almost 200 sites are open all year round, so you need not be held back by the changing of the seasons.

Relax and enjoy life Whether you want to just chill out in laid-back surroundings, or prefer an action-packed holiday, a camping site in Denmark is definitely the ideal setting.
Everything is well organised and the toilet and shower facilities are always excellent.
Shopping is easy: the site will either have its own grocery shop or there will be shops just a short distance away.
Security is also well organised. If the site has 3 stars or more, there will be 24-hour security and the site entrance will be closed by a barrier from 11p.m. to 7a.m.
A family holiday Is it surprising that children love camping and caravanning? The camp will be milling with playmates, and there are endless things to do. There are football pitches, playgrounds, bouncy castles, crazy golf and sometimes swimming pools.
Add to all this the countless activities that sites lay on for the kids: ranging from competitions, pony rides, kite flying, and football tournaments to guided nature trails - in fact, there is no end to what they dream up to keep the youngsters happy!

Nature CampsIf you want to get really close to nature and are prepared to do without most modern conveniences there is a countrywide network of about 750 primitive tent sites. These sites welcome hikers, cyclists, riders and boaters - no motor vehicles are allowed. Toilet and running water is available and accommodation is either free or costs a mere DKK 15/€ 2. Friluftsrådet publishes a guide which lists the various camps. The latest edition covers 2006-2007 (issued spring 2006).
