Sustainable meetings begin with the travel to the destination but it is just as important to consider the travel within the destination.
One international airline with frequent flights to Denmark is Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). By travelling with SAS you can support their Continuous Descent Approach (CDA) programme. Each aircraft can save approximately 330 pounds of fuel and 1,030 pounds of CO2 by using CDA. Upon arrival in Denmark, why not use the efficient public transportation system instead of taxis? You could opt for the brand new metro to Copenhagen, which is the fastest way from the airport to city center and to Scandinavia’s largest convention centre, the Bella Center. Or take the train or the frequent number of busses to city centre. Which ever transportation you choose it is the same price DKK 30 (~ USD 6).
To plan your journey ahead you can visit the journey planner for public transportation, which includes busses, trains and metro in all of Denmark. You can even check trips outside of Denmark if you should wish to go to Sweden or Germany whilst in Denmark. Contact the Danish State Railways (DSB) for travel information inside and outside of Denmark. Should you plan your meeting in Copenhagen walking could easily be the most convenient form of transportation. The city center of Copenhagen is quite small and compact meaning that most hotels, conference facilities, restaurants, theaters, museums and other incentives are within walking distance from each other. If walking is too slow for you borrow a bike or hop on a rickshaw taxi.
