Living green is important all over Denmark - but in some areas it is more than just an integrated part of daily life. These areas are either aiming to become CO2 neutral or leading when it comes to alternative clean energy.

GreenBelt Denmark is based in the central region of Jutland. It is a unique cooperation between private companies, local authorities and other organizations. Baltic Sea Solutions (Bass) is a project development organization operating in the Baltic Sea Region. More specifically it has its root on the Danish island of Lolland.
Their main job is to create and implement new business solutions through a wide network of private and public partners. They focus on areas such as tourism, energy, environment, agriculture, business development and outsourcing. 
In November 1997 the island of Samsø won a competition between five Danish islands. The challenge was to convert the island’s energy system to renewable energy within a period of 10 years. Today, Samsø is almost entirely independent of fossil fuels and 100% self-sufficient in terms of electricity supply. To learn more you can visit the Samso Energy Academy which has experiences with the implementation of a broad variety of local renewable energy projects, from wind turbines to CO2 neutral district heating plants, rapeseed oil tractors and solar energy panels.

The Danish town of Sønderborg is currently working on becomming CO2 neutral. This project is called ProjectZero an its goal is to make Sønderborg entirely CO2 neutral by 2030. The area will be a role model for sustainable building, intelligent energy management and a sustainable way of life. Sønderborg will set the best examples for future housing, lifestyles and ways of doing business.
