Giro d'Italia 2012 in Denmark

This May, for the first time ever, Denmark will play host to the world’s toughest cycling race, the Giro d’Italia. From 5 to 7 May 2012, the Danish cities of Herning and Horsens will become the first places in Scandinavia to experience the thrill of 198 top cyclists battling it out for the coveted pink jersey.

City circuits, endless windswept West Jutland coastline and the two highest points in Denmark, Ejer Bavnehøj and Yding Skovhøj, await the riders as they race over the spectacular first three stages of this year’s Giro d’Italia.

Saddle up and see Mid Jutland

The Giro d'Italia is the perfect opportunity to get out into the sweeping Mid Jutland countryside and dramatic coastline. From the host cities of Herning and Horsens, it's easy to saddle up and go exploring.

The area is criss-crossed by a network of cycle routes down country lanes, through woodland and open country. You can stop off at quaint towns and villages lining the Giro route and spend time soaking up their unique atmosphere.

Visit the beautiful market town of Ringkøbing, the seaside retreat of Juelsminde or Odder, an unspoilt country town next to some of the best beaches in Denmark. Charming, cultural towns such as Holstebro, Lemvig and Struer also await you.
