Entry to Denmark

As a US or Canadian citizen you will need to show your passport when you enter Denmark from North America. However, US and Canadian citizens do normally not need a visa to enter Denmark for vacation purposes. Before going, we encourage you to check the up-to-date regulations here.

Travelling within Europe is easy as you do not have to go through passport control when travelling between countries that participate in the "border control free" zone of the Schengen countries. The Schengen Agreement removes internal border controls while putting in place effective controls at the external borders of the EU. Travelers must carry a passport though.

Schengen rules set out a number of conditions that foreigners must comply with to enter another Schengen country, e.g. the foreigners may not be listed as unwanted in the Schengen Information System (SIS) which is a shared EDP system for exchanging data.
