Marriott International is set to open two new hotels in Copenhagen, both located in the same waterfront development in the city’s new dockland residential district of Nordhavn.

Opening in 2023, the two hotels will both operate under Marriott brand names and offer four-starred accommodations. One of the hotels will be a Residence Inn under the name Residence Inn by Marriott Copenhagen Nordhavn. This hotel will comprise 95 short-term-stay suites. The other Marriott hotel will offer around 200 hotel rooms. The Marriott brand for the second hotel is yet to be announced.

The new waterside hotel development will be located on a small island called Nordø in immediate extension to the Århusgadekvarteret area in Nordhavn. Adjacent to the hotels, a major seafront office development is currently under construction, which is set to offer a public atrium and park plaza. All buildings in the new Nordø development will be DGNB Gold Certified for sustainability.

With quality-conscious placemaking by Copenhagen-based design company BRIQ, Århusgadekvarteret has quickly become one of the city’s most popular urban districts with several high-profile restaurants and a buzzing waterfront promenade. In February 2021, Nordhavn also saw the opening of its first conference hotel, the 484-room Comwell Copenhagen Portside Dolce by Wyndham

The two new Marriott hotels in Nordhavn will enjoy easy access by public transport from Orientkaj Metro Station (M4). The airport travel time by metro will be 22 minutes. Århusgadekvarteret is also served by the city’s first autonomous electric bus service. Copenhagen’s electric waterbus route will be extended to the Nordhavn district in 2021.

There are already three Marriott brand hotels in Copenhagen: AC by Marriott Bella Sky Copenhagen (811 rooms), Copenhagen Marriott Hotel (406 rooms), and Moxy Copenhagen Sydhavnen (226 rooms).
